Minnesota Vikings-Greater Twin Cities United Way 2016 Hometown Huddle

On October 18, the Minnesota Vikings partnered with Greater Twin Cities United Way to welcome more than 100 youth to Winter Park for the 18th annual Hometown Huddle event. Former Vikings Player and current Youth Football Manager, E.J. Henderson, along with several current players kicked off the event with a discussion on the importance of character, highlighting five important words – education, perseverance, hard work, respect and appreciation. Attendees then rotated through a series of physical drills with the players, and even had the chance to engage in some friendly competition with an onsite volunteer project relay race. Participants raced to assemble a Fit Kit for another child in the community, learning the importance of volunteerism. Fit Kits were distributed to youth at United Way served agencies: ACES (Athletes Committed to Educating Students), Camp Fire Minnesota, Division of Indian Work - S.M.A.R.T. Nations, Minneapolis American Indian Center, and the North Community YMCA.
