Craig, Season 2 Winner of The Voice Australia, originally wrote “Even If You Say So” as a love song. When the pandemic hit, the lyrics took on a new meaning for the 26-year-old singer songwriter.
“As we were all in lockdown and worried for what was going to happen next, ‘Even If You Say So’ became for me a song about overcoming obstacles, resilience, and love for one another,” said Craig. “Working with United Way to help tell that story was a natural choice. They have and are still doing so much for COVID relief around the world.”
Craig has worked with United Way for many years in his native Australia and currently serves as a United Way Global Brand Ambassador. Today at 2:00pm ET on United Way’s Instagram, Craig will share more about the meaning behind the video during a live Q&A. The video premier kicks off the second week of United Way’s Live United Initiative, an eight-week campaign to help communities everywhere continue the path of recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We are so grateful to Harrison Craig for his continued support of United Way,” said Stan Little, Chief Experience Officer, United Way Worldwide. “His ongoing commitment to inspiring young children to overcome their challenges and live their dreams and raising awareness about those in need around the world are what living United is all about.”
United Way, the world’s largest privately-funded nonprofit, raised an unprecedented amount of money last year that helped 27 million cope with COVID-19, but the pandemic’s multiple waves around the world—most recently in India—are a reminder that recovery is a long-term undertaking. More than 225 million jobs have been lost globally, educators and parents worry about learning loss, especially for low-income children of color, and United Ways are still fielding record requests for help getting food and health care.
United Ways around the world contributed imagery for the video to capture pivotal moments and highlight the work of tireless volunteers who stepped up this past year.
