United Way Worldwide Welcomes New Global Brand Ambassador Josh Dixon
The former USA Olympic gymnast joins United Way to raise awareness for key issues
Alexandria, VA (Sep. 28, 2020) – Today, United Way Worldwide introduced Josh Dixon, former USA National Team gymnast, collegiate athlete standout and current business management consultant, as United Way’s newest Global Brand Ambassador. Dixon joins a diverse group of global voices leveraging their social media platforms to empower the next generation of community leaders and philanthropists.
“United Way is pleased to welcome trailblazer and thought-leader Josh Dixon as our newest global brand ambassador,” said Stan Little, Chief Experience Officer, United Way Worldwide. “Josh’s dedication and commitment to training at an elite level is matched by United Way’s commitment to fight for every person in every community. We couldn’t be happier to have Josh on our team.”
Dixon has long had a passion for philanthropy volunteering for local advocacy activities during his college career at Stanford University, and giving back to schools in his hometown of Los Gatos, CA through an annual scholarship program. More recently, he teamed up with United Way partner, When We All Vote, to expand awareness about the importance of civic engagement and voting.
“Giving back is core to who I am and I realize I have a unique opportunity to leverage my voice and social platforms to raise awareness for issues facing our nation and our world,” said Josh Dixon, United Way Global Brand Ambassador. “Through my commitment to both the Stanford gymnastics team and the U.S. Gymnastics team, I have learned to recognize the power of a collective team-effort in the pursuit of a common goal. It is with tremendous gratitude and responsibility that I join United Way’s group of Global Ambassadors and encourage others to join the fight.”
Leveraging Instagram as their primary communication channel, United Way’s Global Brand Ambassadors empower their audiences to drive social impact in local communities around the world through digital calls to action. Their voices and support have been especially critical during the time of COVID-19 as many audiences were eager to support United Way’s work but were not able to leave their home. Since launching last year, the Brand Ambassadors have raised awareness and funding for United Way’s COVID work as well as other key initiatives.
